Facilitate My Life

Facilitate my Life

We were already pretty stressed when we had one world to handle. However, our current sense of stress is going through the roof now, since we also have a second world at our disposal: the virtual world where we can live second lives. Add the hard recession times and our narcissistic culture of divorce and one can imagine that Stress Society is here to stay. In this light Facilitate My Life is a broad based, growing desire to gain control.

Our grandparents probably lived their lives on lower material standards than we do, with less strain and tension. We however, persistently perceive ourselves as a stressed generation living in a highly stressed society. And why would we not be?  After all, we are increasingly surrounded by media messages, seductive (both online and offline) invitations and a more intense kaleidoscope of peer group pressure than ever before.

FacilitateMyLife

How to cope with it all? First of all, we continuously try to do more. All day, all night, 24/7 365 days a week. Even though, perversely enough, many of us discover that trying to reduce our stress along these lines, at the same times adds up to our stress levels. Secondly, we bless ourselves with the Rise of Apps Culture in which we have an app for every inconvenience we meet. But again, all the apps paradoxically manage both to diminish and intensify our stress at the same time. Last but not least, we embrace with open arms and a desiring heart all the products, offerings and services that promise to relieve our stress. We term this Destress Invite.
