Flat World Creativity

Flat World Creativity

Thanks to the Digital Revolution all workers (both skilled and unskilled), all cities, all nations, if not all continents are competing with each other on a more equal footing than we could imagine in the era when the world was not so intensely connected through glass fiber. In the online world Bangalore is a suburb of Boston. In the online world Shanghai and Sao Paulo are closer in distance to each other than formerly imaginable. This is the profound meaning of Living in a Flat World. It implies many chances for the formerly ‘underdeveloped’ world and heavy challenges for the rich nations of the West. The new Flat World dynamics are often summarized as the Decline of the West and the Rise of the Rest. This might be too easily stated, but still, it is a clear picture.

How to cope in this fiercely competitive Flat World? We see nations compete on cheap labor – with the Rise of China as the iconic example. In the end however, this competitive edge will not be the most exciting or lucrative component. Successfully competing on creativity and innovative power will bring more to the winner. China, for instance, is realizing this. The Chinese government recently stated that their nation is already the Manufacturer of the World. Now they proclaim the ambition to become the Innovation Machine of the World as well. In a Flat World any country realizes that it would be great if the next Steve Jobs would be born within its borders. That is what most governments, educational systems and human research departments are aiming at. Book abound to document this international trend.

Flat World Creativity

Science of the Time itself plays a tiny little role in this. Aim of our leading International Cool City Hunt research is making its participants (students, teachers, professors, experts and business partners) more trend- and innovation sensitive. The main idea behind the International Cool City Hunt: only a thoroughly researched platform of validated mentality trends can foster a climate of creativity and innovation.
