SKP-S: BEIJING’S FUTURE DEPARTMENT STORE
December 30, 2021DO YOU DARE TO EAT AT PACAYA PIZZA?
January 5, 2022WHAT IT IS?
‘Nemo 33’, Brussels, Belgium is an Aquatic Centre built for divers. It has the deepest swimming pool in the world with a depth of 113 feet (33 meters). Its latest addition: restaurant ‘The Pearl’ opened in 2017. It is an underwater pod converted into a restaurant. The pod is 16 feet (5 meters) below surface level, so you have to dive for your dinner. The experience starts with a glass of champagne which is being delivered inside a sealed waterproof box. For this unique dining experience, divers must bring their scuba diving certificate, swimwear, and other essentials. Divers get the chance to freely explore the pool and enter the underwater pod once their table is ready. For beginner divers, there is an hour diving course available before dining.
WHY IT´S COOL?
Restaurant ‘The Pearl’ is an out of the ordinary experience where people get the chance to scuba dive their way to dinner. Aside from the restaurant, there’s a lot more to see and do at the Aquatic Centre. ‘Nemo 33’ also includes an underwater stage where producers and photographers have the opportunity to shoot scenes without having to worry about the weather conditions.
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
With everything Nemo 33 already has to offer for the public, it can nevertheless add services, such as underwater meditation session or aquatic therapy for those with disabilities. On a more abstract, level Nemo 33 is a place where people can experiment with going to the max and overcoming their anxieties in a playful and voluntary way. When you perceive Nemo 33 in that light, we could brainstorm on creating other environments where people can experiment with their anxieties in playful manners. For sure, that’s an area with future growth potential.
