March 24, 2022WHAT IT IS?
Did you hold an event with banners involved? Don’t throw them away!
It’s simple: 1 sq.m. banner = 1 shopping bag of 35×40 cm. ‘Polyarus’ is a Russian designer brand acting in the realm of contemporary culture of conscious consumption. This project originates in St. Petersburg, where the founder of the brand, Alexandra decided to sew bags from advertising banners, seat belts et cetera. Various large companies such as Hyundai MotorStudio, Adidas, YOTA, Johnnie Walker are providing the company with their old banners. The founder of the project calls it: noble commerce, though it is not charity, it is exclusively commercial.
WHY IT’S COOL?
Each created accessory, made from indestructible material, gives new life in the form of stylish backpacks, clutches, bags and accessories with enviable durability and practicality. It is conceptual minimalism and brevity, handmade and with an individual approach. Smart recycling combined with uniqueness.
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
Every object should be given a second life, especially when the production and disposal of it causes colossal harm to our eco-environment. ‘Polyarus’ makes this its central principle of work.

Good to see businesses being built on upcycling of what would be waste in other cases. Cool blog Grigorii.
👍🏼
This is a great idea. I love the idea of upcycling and becoming more sustainable. The collaborations of huge companies also shows how they are committed in trying to be more sustainable. Bit i also feel that trying to stay sustainable takes a lot of work and ‘Polyarus’ is showing them that they can!
These concepts have great future growth potential! I think in the future this should be the norm and a cheaper way to produce new stuff. Basic material become scare and thus more expensive.
The interesting thing to me about this blog is not so much the concept. I knew it from Western Europe for half a decade now. But that the concept is making waves in other parts of the word, equally. That is good news, and ‘uniting’ us. Thanks, Grigorii – nice to have you around at Futurists Club 🙂
“Smart recycling combined with uniqueness” is a very good description to it. Seeing upcycle happening in fashion not only as a plus, but as a complete business model, is exciting. And seeing such stylish pieces being made from reused materials is a treat for the eyes!
