This Smells Motivates Me

WHAT IT IS?

Smells, or scents, can be used in gyms to enhance the overall atmosphere and experience for gym-goers. This process is called sensory branding. It has been a long time ago that the fitnes, gyms or changing rooms in the gym must smell and be a space in which the smell and various impurities associated with exercise culminate, which is now becoming a crucial touch point. Scents have different purposes: Pleasant environment, Invigorating effect, Odour control, Antibacterical properties and Service differentiation. One is that is the most interesting and unique is Invigorating scents.

Invigorating scents in a gym can help energize and motivate people during their workouts. While individual preferences for scents can vary, some invigorating and revitalizing smells that are often used in gyms include:

Citrus: Citrus scents, such as lemon, lime, and orange, are known for their refreshing and revitalizing qualities. They can help boost alertness and provide a burst of energy.

Peppermint: Peppermint has a crisp and invigorating aroma that can enhance focus and mental clarity. It’s often associated with increased alertness and energy.

Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus has a fresh and clean scent that can help improve respiratory function, making it easier to breathe during intense workouts. It also provides a feeling of refreshment.

Pepper: Black pepper has a stimulating and spicy aroma that can increase alertness and provide a sense of warmth

The goal of using invigorating scents in gyms is to create a positive and motivating atmosphere that encourages gym-goers to feel more energized, focused, and inspired during their workouts. These scents can help mask less pleasant odors and contribute to an overall enjoyable fitness experience. However, it’s important for gyms to use scents in a balanced and considerate manner to ensure they do not become overpowering or trigger sensitivities among their clientele.

WHY IT´S COOL?

  • Depending on the smell, it motivates you in a different way.
  • Could be different, depending on workout class, individualisation. For example: eucalyptus in bicycles classes.
  • Enhanced experience, Scent helps to enhance the fitness experience for your customers and encourage members to maintain their membership.

WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?

There is a huge market for gyms, the quantity of smells that have been discovered and identified is vast and difficult to quantify precisely. Human beings can detect and distinguish a wide range of odours, estimated to be in the thousands.”the exact number of distinct smells is a matter of ongoing scientific debate”. Due to this fact there are still a lot to discover and smells that can be discovered could be associated with gym and help gym to become even better.

The only problem is that we are all different and for some what is attractive, could be not for other.

    Smell is the next solid touch point. Good insight, Vitaly. Good information as well. Can’t assess though how reliable and authorative the information is. A bit deeper documentation would have been extra helpful here. Use of trend words is minimal but, having said that: okay.
