WHAT IT IS?
Our group chose an evening experience that took us through local bars before arriving at our destination in the Born neighborhood of Barcelona. One of the highlights was stumbling upon a small corner shop that, at first glance, appeared to be an ordinary grocery store. However, inside, we discovered a hidden door leading to Monk Barcelona—a stunning and unique bar in the vibrant Born district, perfect for a fun night out and creative cocktails. Previously named one of the World’s 50 Best Bars, Monk’s popularity means you might have to wait a bit, but it’s worth it!
WHY IT´S COOL?
- The bar offers a welcoming atmosphere with English-speaking staff and menus, making it a great spot for all nationalities. Its interior design is Instagram-worthy, and despite being a trendy spot, it’s family-friendly; we even saw a family with a little girl enjoying the experience. They also have a selection of non-alcoholic drinks on the menu.
- Monk Barcelona stands out as part of the experience economy, with its hidden location inside a grocery store adding to the excitement. There are several thoughtful touchpoints, like being served water before ordering, a menu designed like a classic CD cover inspired by songs, and the unique presentation of drinks. Even the entrance and exit are designed to be different, with the exit inspired by a mirror maze. The unisex bathroom adds to the quirky atmosphere, complete with its own music playlist.
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
- ontinuous innovation in cocktails and interior design keeps the bar fresh and exciting.
- Its prime location ensures a steady flow of both tourists and locals.
- The bar’s growing popularity, as seen by the long line when we left, shows it’s attracting a wide audience looking for unique nightlife experiences.
