WHAT IT IS?
The Ice Hotel at Bâlea Lake is a seasonal masterpiece built every winter entirely from snow and crystal-clear ice blocks cut from the frozen lake. Located at over 2,000 meters altitude in Romania’s Făgăras Mountains, it includes an Ice Restaurant with special dishes, an ice bar for drinks, ice glasses and an ice church, providing guests with sleeping bags and furs for comfort, while the interior temperature remains between -2 and +2 degrees Celsius.Each season it is built from scratch, with a fresh design and theme, making every visit unique and unrepeatable.Beeing only a temporary hotel,you need to hurry up before it is getting warmer.
WHY IT´S COOL?
- A special highlight are the figurines and ice sculptures decorating the interiors – from mythical creatures to abstract art – all hand-carved by local artists.
