When we talk about cool & new hotels concepts, Svart in normway is the perfect case study. This is not just a hotel – it is a special location, unconventional architecture and eco-innovation powerhouse all in one.
WHAT IT IS?
Svart is the world’s first energy-positive hotel, designed to open near the Svartisen glacier in northern Norway. The idea began to take shape in 2017, when the renowned architectural firm Snøhetta presented the design. Since then, the project has grown, and while initially slated to open in 2021, everything now points to welcoming its first guests in 2026 under the Six Senses brand. The inspiration comes from old Norwegian fishermen’s cabins, but with a futuristic twist: the circular building floats above the fjord and offers 360° views of the glacier and mountains, as they mention in the website

WHY IT´S COOL?
It combines several innovative concepts in hostipatlity:
- Special location. It is founded at the Edge of the Artic Cicle, you’re literally sleeping in front of a glacier.
- Unconventional archutecture. It is so minimalism, a floatinf circle with glass facades – it is like being in a sci-fi movie.
- Eco-innovation. Svart will generate more energy than it consumes. Solar panels integrated into the roof, zero-waste systems, and fully sustainable construction materials.
- Wellness and lifestyle. This concept is about disconecting from stress, reconecting with nature, and embracing a helaty Artic lifestyle.

WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
Svart isn’t just a hotel, it’s a seed of the future of hospitality. A concept where special location + eco-innovation + lifestyle wellness converge.
This kind of eco-positive concept has growth potential because:
- Rising demand for sustainable tourism – people want guilt-free luxury.
- Magnet location appeal – who doesn’t want to Instagram a hotel floating under the Northern Lights?
- Scalable innovation – the model of energy-positive design can be replicated in mountains, deserts, and coastal destinations worldwide
The future of hospitality is about sustainability, immersive experiences, and innovative concepts. Travelers today don’t just want a bed – they want transformational stays.
