Unexpected Airshow in Huntington Beach at The Hyatt.

WHAT IT IS?

On September 2023, what I thought was just a stop at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Huntington Beach in Los Angeles, California; turned into an amazing and surprising experience from the balcony of my hotel room.

What Happened?

September 28th, I was supposed to make a stop in this hotel to later head to airport to catch a late flight. My family was planning on staying the night at the Hyatt to watch the annual US Airforce airshow at the beach, which was the next day. I was supposed to stay at the hotel for a couple of hours and then leave, so I was not expecting to see what happened next.

While having a phone call with my brother, all of the sudden I started hearing roaring sounds coming from the balcony of the room. I ran towards the window and I see that the practice airshow had started! The Pacific Airshow had scheduled their practice show on the date that I was staying at the hotel, I had no clue about this event happening on this date. In complete shock I start screaming in excitement to my brother on the phone call, who couldn’t even hear me because of the roaring jet planes passing in front of the room, obviously I had to end the call or my brother was going deaf for sure between my screams and the jets.

Running to the pool!

After hanging up the phone, my reaction was to go find my family at the pool. I ran towards the elevator and honestly I’ve never felt a slower elevator ride in my life, I felt like I was going to miss out on the rest of the show, which was absurd because the show lasts for about an hour long. Anyway, I get to the pool and the first thing I see is my uncle drinking a Margarita on the pool with his sunglasses on, totally a cool looking dude by the way, and in total bliss, just as me. He then offers me a drink and I proceed to lay down on the sun beds next to my cousins and aunt.

Nobody could even speak to each other from the ridiculous loudness from the jet planes but we were all absolutely happy. One of the best parts of this experience, was getting to see my uncle’s excitement with every jet that performed, he knew exactly each model and features of each plane, he was almost going back to his childhood version of Simon. So, now just imagine a 40 year old, his wife, a ten year old, a 6 year old and me a 25 year old, all behaving the same age in disbelieve having the time our lives with a bunch of U.S. Force jet planes flying over our heads.

I can honestly say that this was one of the best touch points of my life and one I will never forget or stop sharing. There is something really special in sharing unexpected experiences with the people you love.

WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?

The hotel does a great job receiving the yearly show public in their hands. They encourage people to come to te Hyatt during the show days and let them enjoy the views from the rooms, pool and beach area, keeping them safe and always taken care of. I thinks its a great opportunity fir any hotel in the area to take these dates into advantage and creatively use it to generate profit and win guests into loving the hotel experience.
