WHAT IT IS?
At the Technotown Museum in Rome, visitors can take home a one-of-a-kind keepsake: their own face carved into a block of polystyrene—a striking reminder that makes the museum experience truly unforgettable.
The Technotown Museum is located in Rome and, as the name suggests, is a science and technology museum. It is a place that aims to let kids discover the world of technology, research, and innovation. Inside the museum, you can visit thematic exhibitions, discover the origin of the first phone, and experience augmented reality installations. Once you finish the visit, there is one last surprise waiting for you: the scultorbot.
WHY IT´S COOL?

Once you arrive near the museum exit, the museum personnel will escort you to a dark room where you can have your face scanned. After your face is scanned, the computer transmits the image to the scultorbot, which carves your face into a polystyrene block.
Not only can you witness the bot in motion, but you can also take the result home after it’s finished. This is the fun part—like watching a 3D printer in reverse. Instead of building up layers, the bot slices them away, carving your face from polystyrene. Slowly, layer after layer, you will see a nose appear, then the eyes, the mouth, and finally your face shape.
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
This allows the museum to be unforgettable. It does not send you on your way once the visit is concluded, but it takes the time to give you a personalized gift that you can take home and display in your living room in the same way you would with a family picture. Personalized gifts like this give museums, hotels, and bars the chance to stand out, creating memorable experiences that excite and amuse customers and therefore stay in their minds.
