VANTA is now preparing to open at the historic MacDonald House with a rather different proposition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1880 made conversation central to its identity. Michelin-starred chef Alvin Leung is providing the culinary direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the physical club is not the most interesting part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VANTA describes itself as a place where <strong>\u201cvisionaries, leaders &amp; tastemakers\u201d<\/strong> converge, and its own language repeatedly emphasizes culture, influence, connection and ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That makes the club less like a luxury clubhouse and more like a <strong>curated social ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is no longer simply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Who is allowed through the door?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who is worth putting in the same room?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Is It Cool?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"631\" src=\"https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee.png 945w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee-800x534.png 800w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee-120x80.png 120w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee-90x60.png 90w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee-320x214.png 320w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/peoplee-560x374.png 560w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore is a city that handles a very traditional, status system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Education.<br>Career.<br>Entrepreneurship.<br>Property.<br>Wealth.<br>International connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But once enough people have acquired the conventional markers of success, another problem appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do you distinguish yourself from people who are already successful?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need something less tangible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>taste.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>curiosity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>cultural range.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>interesting friends.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>interesting things to say.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These qualities are difficult to purchase directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that is precisely what makes them attractive as status signals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gives VANTA&#8217;s proposition a deeper meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A membership can buy access to a room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But <strong>the quality of the room depends on who else is there.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the real VANTA luxury is potentially not the building, the wine cellar or even the exclusivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It is the possibility of serendipity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than selling conversation alone (like 1880 focused on), VANTA is assembling a broader ecosystem around <strong>culture + dining + influence + experiences + international access<\/strong>. Its stated ambition is to make the club a place where ideas and unexpected encounters happen repeatedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Does It Have Future Growth Potential?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"544\" src=\"https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1.webp 1024w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1-800x425.webp 800w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1-120x64.webp 120w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1-90x48.webp 90w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1-320x170.webp 320w, https:\/\/scienceofthetime.com\/fc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Vanta5-1024x544-1-560x298.webp 560w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For decades, luxury helped people demonstrate <strong>what they owned<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then it increasingly became about <strong>where they could go<\/strong> and <strong>whom they could access<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next step could be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>what they can participate in\u2014and what that participation says about them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This becomes particularly relevant in an AI-saturated world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information is becoming extraordinarily easy to obtain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can ask AI almost anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But AI cannot give you the feeling that <strong>something unexpected happened because you were physically in the right room with the right people.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It cannot manufacture genuine serendipity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VANTA&#8217;s experiment is therefore bigger than another private club opening in Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is testing whether <strong>human connection itself can become a luxury product<\/strong>\u2014and whether cultural and intellectual capital can become part of the new status economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thinking Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old luxury question was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat do you have?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The newer one became:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhere can you get in?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the next one is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWho are you becoming by being there?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VANTA has yet to answer that question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that is precisely why it is worth watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mind you 1: VANTA is a proposition at this stage, not yet proof that the new model works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mind you 2: Is VANTA a kind of duplicate of SOHO House? Here are the differences: <strong>Soho House<\/strong> is fundamentally built around the <strong>creative class<\/strong>.
