March 5, 2022WHAT IT IS?
‘Hey! Vina’ is an American app, created in 2016 by Olivia June. The idea of the app is “that nothing makes us feel more confident, secure, happy, and free than a supportive group of friends!” This app allows women to meet like-minded women, become friends, and eventually make the most out of their relationships. Today, ‘Hey! Vina’ is used by women in 158 countries.
The app works almost the same as a classic dating app like Tinder, but then for (girl) friends. When signing up, you need to complete your profile by selecting keywords you identify to, from pregnant to dancing queen or cat owners. Once the profile is completed, you swipe left to skip and swipe right to say hey.
The app encourages its users to plan events and meet up in person after they match. On their website, we can read many success stories of blossomed friendships. Besides swiping for friends, ‘Hey! Vina’ can also be used as a network to create job opportunities.
WHY IT´S COOL?
The app is built by women, for women, with the goal to create genuine relationships. It allows isolated women to meet like-minded women around them. ‘Hey! Vina’ has an international market. It is also growing for users traveling around the world. It has been recognized and praised by many magazines.
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL?
Partnerships with the app in the hospitality industry might include restaurant events, brunches, weekends getaways and so on. The app could privatize the hotel and host a women-only weekend. ‘Hey! Vina’ is the perfect example of this need to escape our lonely quarantine chamber and to meet new friends.

Community building has been on the rise on the internet for some time now, I would like to see how this app is controlling abuse/ users aiming to harm others on it.
This app is what we’ve always needed. Women truly need support and love from other women knowing that we still live in, even if it’s less serious than before, patriarchal societies. All we want is to see women being successful and reaching places.
A good platform where women could talk virtually. or meet in real life to share their stories and listen to other women’s stories and experiences.
I like this concept, I’m just curious how they are controlling if everyone is genuine on it.
Another Cool example of (female) empowerment via a simple yet powerful WhatsApp idea. Cool. Thanks. Manon.
I see what you explain with having future growth potential. I’m curious do you know for a fact the this app is open to such partnerships? I yes, than I see the future growth potential you are talking about! If not, then not so much for the hospitality business.
What a time we live in 😅
