WHAT IT IS
We all know them as eternal inhabitants of Planet Cool: Yves Henri Donat Mathieu- Saint-Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé who in 1961 created the iconic YSL brand. Its continuous focus: practical, sophisticated and classy for women (Prêt-à-Porter, the famous “Le Smoking”, 1966) and somewhat later also for men, mixing art, powerful communicative visuals and a cosmopolitan lifestyle. In August 2017 Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello, took over the YSL helm, refreshing tradition with a very memorable sort of roller skates in his Fall/Winter 2017/2018 Collection Preview. Full name: Anja 100 Patch Pop Pump Roller
WHY IT IS COOL
Why pointed skates (stilettos per say), with a pop art and animal print patterns, based on a roller structure, bringing us back to the 80’s, are Cool? Here are the reasons. First, it delivers a very distinctive and eye-catching visual. Second, it tells a strong yet totally refreshed story from the 80’s, (third) inviting us to think wildly out of the box. And (fourth) laugh even louder.
2017 Spring/Summer Collection Preview brought a Brazilian model Fernanda Oliveira wearing Anja 100, in a polemic position. She probably fell down trying to play the fashion items at her feet. Resulting in some laughs mixed with (feminist?) glamour sexy provocation (fifth).
WHY IT HAS FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL
Here is a good story (No Story, No Glory!), elegant, playful and provocative, stretching your imagination and seducing you to smile. Here is a fashion vehicle for women to show their capacity for distinctive moves: classy and outrageous. Altogether it is Cool without a doubt!
