WHAT IT IS?
If you never had the opportunity to go to a summer camp as a kid, I introduce you to ‘Camp Grounded’ (California, USA). This camp is only for adults who are willing to surrender their digital devices. Instead it offers adults over 50 playing shops and activities. Campers from 30 different US states and 8 foreign countries have already joined the experience, to let go of their digital life and play the real camping life. As said, you have to hand over all of your electronic devices. Even if you secretly keep your cellphone to post on Instagram or make a tweet, the camping area does not receive data coverage. ‘Camp Grounded’ is also an alcohol and drugs-free zone, in order to make it feel closer to a childhood camp.

It’s also a kinda of nostalgia isn’t it? I can relate to not willing to be part of social media, always connected world we are living in nowadays! Are there also similar initiates in the Netherlands, Europe, Asia/Middle East like this one? Can’t imagine only California has these kinda of camps? Would be cool if there is something similar in the Ardennen!

Hmm very interesting concept, I don’t know how to feel about it though maybe it doesn’t fit my interest.
‘Without social media’ is a thing nowadays, which I think is good since social media can be overwhelming at times, and connecting with actual people in person is a priceless experience.
What we need right now is a break from social media. But it’s not only that, we all have hectic and busy lifestyles we no time to breathe. This summer camp is every adult’s dream to be honest. all we need is a break, time to disconnect!
