What Is It?

Located in Madrid’s vibrant financial district, the NH Collection Eurobuilding is redefining modern luxury for a generation that values well-being over prestige.

In collaboration with Philips Lighting and Wallace Network, the hotel introduced the innovative Mood Rooms. This concept combines lighting, sound, scent, and temperature to create an environment that adapts to each guest’s emotional needs.

With a simple touch on a tablet, guests can personalize their stay by selecting one of several mood settings:

  • Energise – bright daylight-inspired lighting designed to improve focus and boost energy.
  • Relax – soft lighting, calming sounds, and soothing scents that encourage recovery and mental relaxation.
  • Romantic – warm lighting and intimate sensory experiences that create connection and comfort.

The result is Techno-Serenity: technology that supports well-being instead of creating distraction. Rather than overwhelming guests, it helps them disconnect, recharge, and enjoy a calmer travel experience.

Why Is It Cool?

  • WOW-EFFECT WITH PURPOSE. Every sensory element works together to create a meaningful emotional experience. The technology feels human, proving that innovation can also be calming.
  • IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE. Light, scent, sound, and temperature are carefully synchronized. Together, they create a complete mind-body experience that goes beyond traditional hotel design.
  • MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS. Today’s Gen Z travellers live in an always-connected digital world. The Mood Rooms offer immediate emotional grounding through sensory design, creating a space that feels almost therapeutic without relying on screens.
  • PLANET AWARE. Instead of constantly redesigning hotel rooms with new materials, the same physical space can transform endlessly through software. This approach reduces material waste while using adaptive lighting and climate systems more efficiently.
  • UNIQUE AND PERSONAL. No two stays are exactly the same. Every guest creates a different atmosphere, making the room a reflection of their own emotions and preferences.
  • SOCIALIZING & STORYTELLING. The room transformations are visually stunning and naturally Instagram-worthy. However, the real value goes beyond aesthetics. Every image tells a story about well-being, mindfulness, and personal experience instead of pure luxury.

Together, these elements represent Slow Tech Hospitality—a new approach where technology slows guests down instead of speeding them up, helping people reconnect with themselves and enjoy the present moment.

Why Does It Have Future Growth Potential?

  • SCALABILITY OF THE CONCEPT

The Mood Rooms concept has strong growth potential. It can easily expand throughout the NH Collection hotel portfolio and inspire partnerships with wellness brands, airports, co-living spaces, and premium residential projects.

Because the technology is modular, hotels can continuously introduce new “mood recipes” developed together with local artists, psychologists, wellness experts, or even musicians. This keeps the guest experience fresh without requiring expensive renovations.

  • BACKED BY DATA

Recent research shows that younger travellers are changing the definition of luxury.

According to Globe Aware (2024), “Wellness and mental health were amongst the top priorities for this group,” demonstrating that emotional well-being has become an essential part of modern travel.

Likewise, Skift (2024) reports that “Millennials and Gen Z are steering travel trends with a focus on technology, sustainability, and a quest for distinctive and meaningful experiences.”

These findings confirm that the Mood Rooms respond to a genuine market demand. Instead of using technology simply because it is available, they use it to improve emotional well-being, create authentic experiences, and encourage slower, more mindful travel.

  • SUSTAINABILITY & PLANET AWARENESS

The Mood Rooms also support a more sustainable hospitality industry.

Rather than physically renovating hotel rooms, digital transformations allow one space to serve many different experiences. This reduces construction waste, extends the lifespan of interiors, and optimizes energy consumption through intelligent lighting and climate control systems.

It is an excellent example of smart hotel technology being used for both guest well-being and environmental responsibility.
